Greater Service, Greater Progress

The Kappa Psi Sigma Chapter hosts numerous national and local community service initiatives throughout the year to help create a better South Georgia community. Through the sorority's motto, "greater service, greater progress," the chapter has amplified greater by spreading educational resources while serving underserved rural areas.

Project Cradle Care (National Project)

This essential program helps spread awareness of disparate and inequitable maternal and infant health outcomes throughout Black and underserved communities. Most recently, KPS served over 400 families in the Tifton community by providing free baby items such as baby diapers. The chapter also partnered with local organizations to spread educational resources to help families in need.

KPS Annual Scholarship

The Kappa Psi Sigma Alumnae Chapter annually sponsors a $500 scholarship for nine high school seniors in nine South Georgia counties. In addition to our county-based scholarships, our chapter also provides one parental scholarship and one scholarship to a deserving student at Valdosta State University and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College who are members of

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. These scholarships support individuals who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to service. All funds are raised through our bi-annual events, the KPS White Party and the Miss Rhomaia Scholarship Pageant.

This national program aims to highlight some of the most pressing issues that negatively impact our youth. The event provides young girls ages 12 to 18 with engaging workshops and interactive lessons designed to empower them and equip them with the tools needed to build bright, productive futures.

Swim 1922 (National Project)

Swim 1922 is another signature initiative dedicated to reducing drowning disparities and promoting water safety, particularly in communities of color. The program provides swim education, water safety awareness, and access to aquatic skills to empower children, families, and adults to be safe and confident around water while honoring the sorority’s founding year, 1922. KPS has notably hosted this program in collaboration with Olympic Silver Medalist and fellow Soror Maritza Correia McClendon back in 2019.

Soles for Little Souls is a SPEAR Foundation and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. initiative that collects and distributes new shoes to children in need, particularly those in homeless shelters or facing economic hardship. The program aims to boost children's confidence and provide essential, high-quality footwear through nationwide, community-based donation drives.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Pink Party

The KPS Pink Party is an uplifting community celebration honoring breast cancer survivors and fighters. Hosted in collaboration with South Georgia Medical Center, the event brings survivors and those currently battling the disease together to share educational resources and raise awareness about a condition impacting millions nationwide. Rooted in faith, strength, and unity, the Pink Party provides a supportive space for women to connect, celebrate survivorship, and encourage one another along their journeys.
